Case Studies
Parkinson Lane Junior and Infants School
We did a conservatory for this school which linked the ground floor class rooms with the basement so the children did not need to go outside to move from one class to another.
Mr Gugsi the headmaster at the school needed to extend the school to be able to increase his intake of children. He wasn't allowed to extend out any further so he had an idea of using the basements of the school to increase the square footage of the school. This required the exisiting cellars which were approximately 4' high to be dug down to a depth of approx 7 or 8 feet high to create head room. This mean't that all the footings of the school had to be underpinned before any conversions could take place.
This development created approximately 2 classrooms and a special sensory room for children with special needs as well as corridors to hang the coats and display work.
