Thornton's offer a range of either bespoke residential doors or Budget residential doors, dependent upon whether the door is a standard or irregular size. The range to choose form is therefore phenomenal
Bespoke
Our bespoke ranges are manufactured to order and it is possible to change the specification to suit the customer's requirements. The timber we use is usually top quality Hardwood for instance European Oak, Mahogany, Idigbo although if you require any other timber species don't hesitate to ask.
Our external doors are usually 56mm thick, with 100mm wide stiles, 200mm bottom rail and a 100mm top rail. We use a mortise and tenon construction for strength and security. Doors with glass openings are pre-beaded for ease of glazing with 4x16x4 toughed sealed units.
There are many variations to external doors including raised and fielded panels, flat panels, glazed panels, glass beads, plant moulds, bolection moulds, swept and shaped heads and styles. Please ask us to quote for your chosen design.
Budget
Our budget ranges of doors though mass produced are still mortise and tennoned but the choice is limited to the traditional styles. The timber is mahogany; these are still fitted into draught proofed outer frame as our bespoke.
Ironmongery
Our standard ironmongery includes butt hinges, mortise lock and all usual door hardware from letterboxes, knockers, spy holes and numbers.
However you can choose which sort of hardware you require for your needs.
All screws and nails used in the manufacture are coated for durability
